SPRING HILL, Tenn. – The Lawrence County Wildcats (3-1) rebounded from last week’s tough loss on Friday night with a 27-13 road win over Spring Hill (0-4).
The Raiders marched the ball down the field on their first drive, gashing the Wildcats up the middle early, and cashing it into a 7-0 lead. On their first possession of the game, Lawrence County did the same, as Jeffrey Chambers carried the load and notched a touchdown to tie it at 7-7. It appeared the lack of defense trend would continue on the next Raider possession, but Wildcat senior linebacker Will Yates dropped back and intercepted a Shane Roberts pass on the Wildcat 35, and the offense cashed it into another score, with Adam Birdsong carrying it across to give Lawrence County the lead at 14-7. For the remainder of the half, the defenses stepped up and at the half, the score was still 14-7.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats scored a touchdown on their first possession, a 13 yard pass from Garrick Barnett to Matt Moss. It was the first touchdown the Wildcats had scored in a third quarter, and was also Moss’s first touchdown reception of the season. Yates added a touchdown carry in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 27-7, and a Garrett Hughes interception in the Wildcat endzone with just over four minutes remaining sealed it for the Wildcats, as they came away with the 27-13 victory. Chambers carried the ball 25 times for 196 yards in the game.

Next week, the Wildcats play their homecoming game, returning home to face Hickman County (2-2) in a region matchup at Hendrix-Staggs Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:00.
