Consumers Urged To Prepare For Much Higher Natural Gas Bills
Posted on September 30, 2005
The cost to heat your home with natural gas this winter is going to be significatly higher but the Lawrenceburg Utility System is offering a “budget billing” plan option that will help spread out the increase over the next billing year.
Utility system officials say a unit of natural gas closed at $13.90 this week, compared to $5.72 for the same unit in October of 2004.
“We are urging customers to begin preparations for high winter gas bills,” said LUS Superintendant Ron Cato.
“We partcipate in a hedge program through the Muncipal Gas Authority of Georgia along with many other cities and that will allow LUS customers to pay about 12 percent less than the market price. But even with these savings the rates are expected to be 95 percent higher than last October’s,” said Cato.
Budget billing will help levelize the amount a customer must pay each month. If you are interested in finding out more information about budget billing call 762-7161.
