Changes in Health Sciences Leadership At CSCC

(Columbia, Tenn. ? December 19, 2005) – - – Columbia State Community College announces changes in the health sciences division.

Kae Fleming, associate professor of radiologic technology at Columbia State, has been appointed health sciences division chair. Susan Seager, associate professor of nursing, has been appointed director of the nursing program and Richard Beck will join the emergency medical technology program as director and faculty member.

All three will continue to teach in their respective programs while performing administrative duties. The changes are effective beginning Jan. 3, 2006.

Fleming is a graduate of Columbia State?s radiologic technology program and also earned a bachelor?s from the College of St. Francis, and a master?s in business from Middle Tennessee State University. She has served in numerous leadership positions including clinical coordinator and is currently the chair of the College?s faculty senate.

Seager joined the nursing faculty in 2004 and has been located at the Williamson County campus. She came to Columbia State from Tennessee State University where she was director of the associate degree nursing program. Prior to that, she held management positions at Baptist Hospital in Nashville and faculty positions at the University of Tennessee, Belmont University, and MTSU. Seager earned her diploma in nursing from East Tennessee Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She also has a bachelor?s from Belmont University and a master?s and doctorate from Vanderbilt University.

Beck comes to Columbia State from Saint Petersburg College in Florida where he served as lead instructor for emergency medicine. Prior to that, he was the EMS program director for the University of Alabama- Birmingham. Beck has a bachelor?s degree from Faulkner University.

The health sciences division is the largest academic division at Columbia State with 11 percent of the student body enrolled in the five nationally accredited programs and another 31 percent of the students declared as pre-allied health majors.
