Lady Eagles District Softball Champs

SUMMERTOWN – The Summertown Lady Eagles softball team wrapped-up their regular
season campaign on Thursday, April 27th with a 4-1 win over the Trojanettes of
Collinwood. The Lady Eagles record now stands at 26-10-1 overall and 12-0 in
District 12-A. Collinwood was the runner-up in 12-A.

Over the past several weeks, the Lady Eagles have not only swept all of their
District opponents, but also competed in the Border Battle in Fayetteville, TN,
posting a top-8 finish out of 30 teams. The Lady Eagles went 4-2 in the
tournament, with all of their opponents being Class AAA teams.

The District 12-A tournament opens on Tuesday, May 2nd at Summertown High
School. The Lady Eagles will play their first game of the tournament on
Thursday, May 4th.

The following is a re-cap of last week’s games -

Monday April 24th –

Lady Eagles 8

Perry Co. 0

The Lady Eagles blanked the visiting Lady Vikings, pounding out 14 hits to
take the 8-0 win. Lady Eagles hurler Kayla Clark allowed only 2 hits,
struck-out 6, gave up 3 walks in 6 innings of work. Kendra Davis came on in
the final inning in relief, striking out 2.

The Lady Eagles’ offense was led by leadoff hitter Kendra Davis’ 3-for-4 at the
plate, with a pair of triples and a 2-run Home Run. Emily Franks with 3-for-4
with 3 singles, Anna McAnally with a single and a triple, Julie Walker with a
single and a double, Jennifer Peterson with a pair of singles, followed by
Mallory Scott and Beth Long, each with a double.

Thursday, April 27th –

Lady Eagles 4

Collinwood 1

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead on solo home runs by Kendra Davis and
Emily Franks in the top of the first inning and never looked back.
Summertown hurler Mallory Scott struck out 4, allowed no walks and scattered 5
hits over 7 innings of work. The Lady Eagles’ office was led by Davis with
a single, a double and the Home Run, Franks with the Home Run, Anna McAnally
with a double, and singles by Beth Long, Julie Walker, Allie Franks and Marissa
Angus.
