Loretto High Names New Basketball Coaches and Band Director

Loretto high school Principal David Daniel today announced the hiring of two new basketball coaches and a band director.
Mike Shockley will be the girl?s basketball coach. He comes from Sweetwater High school where he coached boy?s basketball. In girls? basketball he has compiled an overall record of 138 wins and 79 losses. He has led four teams to the state tournament; two boy?s teams and two girl?s teams. One of the girl?s teams made it to the championship game. In 1992 he coached the Tennessee High school All Star team to a win over the Georgia All Stars.
Donald Borden will be the new boy?s basketball coach at Loretto. He has an overall record of 225-127. He has been named West Alabama Coach of the Year and twice named Florence Times Daily coach of the Year. He is a member of the Franklin County, Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
A meeting with the two news basketball coaches will be held June 6th at 6:30 p.m. at the Loretto High School Cafeteria. All returning boys and girls basketball players and any incoming 9th graders wanting to play should attend the meeting. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
Darrell Boston will be the new band director at Loretto High School. He was the former band director at E.O. Coffman Middle School and assistant band director at LCHS for eleven years. For the past five years he has been band director at Whitthorne Middle School and assistant band director at Columbia Central High School.
All parents and band members are invited to a band boosters meeting on Monday night June 5, at 7p.m. in the band room. This will also include all incoming 9th graders.
