| Crime Spree of Theft Over the Weekend Posted on June 19, 2006 The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department was kept busy this past weekend with theft in the County. On Friday morning Deputies were called to Busby Road in Westpoint. Upon arrival they were told that between 6 and 8:30 Thursday night someone stole a White Lawn mower from the residence. There are no suspects at this time. Also, Friday afternoon Deputies responded to Ratliff Road in Summertown. When they arrived, they were told that a 42 inch Simplicity Zero turn mower and a Snap-On battery charger were stolen from the residence. The items were last seen on Thursday afternoon around 5. When the owner came home from work around 4 pm on Friday, they found the mower and battery missing. Total estimated value of stolen items was approximately $5,350. The owner said he had an idea of who stole his property. However, there are no suspects at this time. On Saturday morning, a deputy was dispatched to Rabbit Trail Road in Leoma. When he arrived, he was informed that a dirt bike had been stolen from the residence. The dirt bike had been ridden on Friday and put up around 7:30 pm in the owner’s garage. Around 9 am saturday morning the owner noticed the bike was missing. The owner located the bike at another residence in Five Points. Upon investigation, deputies found that the dirt bike in Five Points did belong to the man in Leoma. The Five Points resident was arrested for aggrivated burglary, theft of property, and vandalism. A 1999 Yamaha Blaster four wheeler was stolen from a residence on Lambs Ferry Road in Loretto between 5:30 Saturday morning and 4 pm that afternoon while he was not at home. Estimated value of the four wheeler was $2,000. Earlier Saturday morning two men had found a four wheeler on Glendale Road. After deputies looked at the four wheeler, it did match the description of the stolen four wheeler in Loretto. The four wheeler was later released to the residence on Lambs Ferry Road. Finally on Sunday afternoon, Deputies took report of a stolen 1996 Dodge Dakota from Harrison Street in St. Joseph. The truck was driven on Saturday and then parked around 1 am Sunday morning. Total estimated value of the loss was $5,250. There are no suspects in the case at this time. |
