Aretta Collins Attkisson, age 97, of Ethridge, passed away Tuesday in Columbia. She was a native of Lawrence County, a homemaker, and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters: Evelyn Faulkner of Ethridge and Nell Grimes of Lawrenceburg; two sons: Buck Attkisson of Summertown and Milton Attkisson of Ethridge. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 at Neal Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 9.

My belated condolences to the family of my Great Aunt. Aretta was my Grandmothers’ sister and her best friend. I’m sorry to say that since the passing of my Grandmother, Charity Collins Woodard, in 2004 all communication has ceased to us here in Murfreesboro and we had no idea Aunt Aretta had passed.
