| Two Year Drug Investigation Ends Posted on June 23, 2006 A two year long multi-jurisdictional investigation of illegal drug activity initiated by the Lawrenceburg Police Department has resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of approximately 100 pounds of marijuana, over $37,000, five vehicles, five trailers, and hundreds of dollars worth of additional equipment. In October 2004, the Lawrenceburg Police Department along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation opened a drug investigation on Mitchell Haddock of Lawrenceburg and Roger Barton of West Point after receiving information that they were involved in the large scale distribution of marijuana. The investigation revealed that Barton and Haddock were transporting the marijuana from a source in Arizona. In January Haddock and Barton were seen with two other white males on I-40. Traffic stops of the vehicles and subsequent searches resulted in the seizure of 61.5 pounds of marijuana, a 1996 Ford Ranger, a 2003 Haulmark Trailer, along with $1,000 during this incident. All four subjects were released pending investigation. Over the next 18 months agents continued to gather drug related information on the four subjects. On June 2nd agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Lawrenceburg Police Department, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department proceeded to Barton’s residence with four arrest indictments. The four men were arrested upon arrival. Inside agents located an additonal large quantity of marijuana and over $35,000. |
