Variety Show Winners Recently Announced

Lawrence County Council of Community Clubs presented its 27th annual Variety Show on July 14th, 2006, at the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building. This organization has been fundraising for their ?disaster fund? every since 1974. And this year has been a success.
This organization is a non-profit organization that helps the community and the city of Lawrenceburg. It helps to support the King?s Daughter?s School, Red Cross, 4-H Youth, the Lawrence County Library, volunteer fire departments, community clubs, and our own ?disaster fund? for victims of fire, sickness, or weather related disaster.

There were a variety of events such as door prize drawings, homemade cake auction, Little Miss & Mister contest, Womanless Fashion Show, great toe tapping entertainment by The Weathers Band, and ticket prize drawings for items and chances to participate in the money/certificate box.
We had many contestants in the Little Miss and Mister Contest. First place contestants won a savings bond, plaque, tiara/medallion, and money. Runners up also won money, balloons, and bubbles. First place for Little Miss went to Miss Deanne Elizabeth Smith. She represented the Gandy Community Club and raised $738.00. Runners up are: Miss Kayla Nicole Bedsworth, she represented the Mars Hill Community Club and raised $595. Miss Alicia Danielle Shelton represented the Henryville Community Club and raised $403.50. Miss Gracie Noelle Mashburn represented the SouthEast Community Club and raised $161. Miss Katie Gibbs represented the Crawfish Valley Community Club and raised $150. And Miss Brianna Wisdom represented the West End Community Club and raised $75.00.
In the Little Mister Contest, First place went to Mister John Logan Busby, he represented the Crawfish Valley Community Club and raised $150. Runners up in this category are: Mister Ross Sanker he represented the West Point Community Club and he raised $100. Mister Haydn Corbin represented the SouthEast Community Club and he raised $84. Mister Luke Joseph Staggs represented the West End Community Club and he raised $60.04. The total amount raised by the Little Miss and Mister contestants made a grand total of $2,516.54.
We also had huge success with our homemade/scratch cake auction. There were about 20 cakes. The cakes auctioned by Mr. Bobby Smith from about $30 to $270. The total amount raised from the cake auction was $1,840. A big thanks to all those who made, bought, and donated cakes. The grand total raised thru the Variety Show was $5,826.44

We had were several contestants in the Womanless Fashion Show.
There were two categories: Most Beautiful and Most Entertaining. In the Most Beautiful category first place went to Ms. Christina (Mr. Chris Burgess) fashioned in his red and purple UCA cheerleading outfit. Show hobbies were noted as cheerleading, basketball, and talking on the phone. He represented the Fall River Community Club. Second place went to Ms. Tammy Moore (Mr. Tommy Moore) fashioned in his purple top, red skirt, pearl necklace, diapers, and diaper bag. Show hobbies were noted as raising a family and his motto was ?Is there a doctor in the house?? He represented the West End Community Club.

In the Most Entertaining category, first place went to Miss Clara Bell (Mr. Orville Nichols) fashioned in his, yellow print granny hat, green dress, and green checkered apron. He represented the West End Community Club. His show hobby included performing in operas. And second place went to Ms. Tammy Moore (Mr. Tommy Moore) he represented the West End Community Club. Judges for this event were: Chuck Kizer, Jimmy Brown, and Bill Willet. If you didn?t get to come and see this event, you missed out on some fine entertainment. This was such a delight to see!

Winners for the ticket prizes drawings were: James Childress winning the Swisher/Murray, Inc. Push Mower, Gail Weathers winning the Story and Lee Recliner, and Linda Taylor of winning the $200
Wal-Mart Shopping Spree. There were also four winners in entering the money/certificate booth. Participants won money, McDonalds Certificates, and Steve Williams Ford Oil Changes. Participants were Mike Harris, Margaret Gabel, Debbie Riddle, and Bula Smith.

The proceeds from this event enable the Lawrence County?s Community Clubs to continue their disaster relief and community service projects fundraising efforts.
