If the vote passes, the Commission hopes to be able to decrease the recently raised property taxes by as much as 20 cents.
The Budget Committee also decided to take steps towards opening a temporary jail. County Executive Paul Rosson explained to the Committee that at the current rate of paying other jails to house inmates, the county could pay over a million dollars each year. The Committee decided to try to take steps towards using some existing facility that could be transformed into a 100 bed facility.
