Thursday Last Day To Vote Early In Lawrence County
Posted on November 02, 2006

This is the last day of early voting in
Tennessee.
Turnout has been heavy so far, and polls are expected to be busy
today.
Through Monday, more than 587-thousand people have participated
in early voting.
State election coordinator Brook Thompson says this is a 48
percent increase over the same period during the midterm elections
four years ago.
Thompson expects the total early voting turnout to rise to about
800-thousand because the final three days are typically the
heaviest.
University of Tennessee political science professor Anthony
Nownes called the numbers “amazing.”
He predicts a large turnout on Election Day as well and
attributes it to the close U-S Senate race between Democrat Harold
Ford Junior and Republican Bob Corker.
Local turnout has been moderate to heavy. The polls at the election commission office will remain open until 4:30 p.m. today.
