Chamber Christmas Parade Set For Saturday Night
Posted on November 30, 2006

The annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade December 2 will follow its traditional route through downtown Lawrenceburg but there will be a different beginning and end due to construction on Highway 43.
Parade participants are asked to come to Rotary Park where volunteers will assist with the line-up. The parade will follow North Military Ave., wrap around the Square and follow Pulaski Street east to disperse in the E.O. Coffman school area. ?Since the highway construction effectively shortens our traditional parade route we have decided to line-up in the Rotary Park area,? said Daphene Cope, Chamber Director of Operations. ?This will give parade spectators more viewing opportunities along North Military.?
This year?s parade theme is ?The Beauty of Christmas? and the Grand Marshals are the members of the E.O. Coffman Middle School Winter Guard. Special honorees will be the National Guardsmen recently returned from service in Iraq.
Directed by Kenneth and Sally Coultas, the E.O. Coffman Winter Guard has been named Tennessee State Champions by the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit in each of its two years of existence.
The 2006 team consists of 25 young ladies in Grades 6-8 and serves as a training unit for the LCHS Winter Guard and Big Gold Machine. Sponsors include Winter Guard parents and the LCHS Band Boosters.
?Many times we select as our Christmas Parade Grand Marshals Lawrence Countians whose accomplishments have brought great honor to our community,? said Daphene Cope. ?The Coffman Winter Guard upholds this wonderful tradition.?
?We are also thrilled about the timing of the return from Iraq by our National Guardsmen heroes in time for us to recognize their outstanding service to our country. It is a profound honor for us to have them in the Christmas Parade,? she said.
