Summertown Grabs Pair From Loretto

The Summertown Lady Eagles and Eagles swept the Loretto Lady Mustangs
and Mustangs here Monday night.
In the opener, the Lady Eagles took a 16-11 lead by the end of the first
quarter and held a 29-20 lead at the intermission. The Lady Eagles came out
in the second half, posting an 11-0 run on the visitors and never looked back.
Summertown outscored Loretto 24-10 in the third period and lead 53-30 after
the first three periods, and coasted to the win by a final score of 64-47.
The Lady Eagles were led by Emily Franks with 17 points (10 rebounds), Jennifer
Peterson with 15 (1 trey), Tamia Tucker with 11 (1 trey), Allison Durham with 6
(2 treys), Haley Lovett, Barndi Newton and Kayla Clark, each with 5 (1 trey
each).
Loretto was led by Sara Brewer with 18 points, Kinsley Williams with 13, Mandy
Cross with 8 (2 treys), Jamie Smith with 3, Heather Dunkin with 2, Tia Moore
with 2 and Ashley Shultz with 1.
The Lady Eagles are now 10-1 overall, 3-1 in District 12-A, while the Lady
Mustangs are 3-9 overall and 1-2 in District 10-AA.
The nightcap would be all Summertown, as the Eagles jumped out to a 9-2 lead,
forcing a Loretto timeout with 3:12 to play in the first period. The Eagles
would continue to pour it on, capped by a Wes Long trey with 1:23 remaining in
the first period and giving the Eagles a 14-4 lead a the end of the period.
In the second period, the Eagles would open with another trey by Long, as the
Eagles would outscore the Mustangs 29-11 in the period to take a 43-15 lead
into the lockeroom at the half.
In the third period, the Eagles would extend their lead, capped by a Clint
Gobble trey with 1:46 remaining in the third period, giving the Eagles a 55-21
lead, and they would lead 58-27 at the end of the third. There would be no
relief in the final period, as the Eagles would outscore the Mustangs 25-11 in
the fourth period to take the win by a final score of 25-11.
The Eagles were led by Wes Long with 19 points (2 treys), Chris Carrington with
17 (1 trey), Dustin Scott with 12 (2 treys), Jon Ivie with 8, Clint Gobble with
7 (1 trey), Nick Nance and Logan Harville with 5 each, Brandon Keeton with 4,
Kaleb Pitts with 3 (1 trey), Frank Campbell with 2 and Zack Matheny with 1.
The Mustangs were led by Colin Stout (1 trey) and Lucas Nunley (1 trey) with 9
each, Steven Green and Clint Wright with 8 each, followed by Bryce Glass and
Matt Gailey with 2 each.
The Eagles’ record now stands at 6-5 overall, 3-1 in District 12-A, while the
Mustangs are 7-5 overall, 1-2 in District 10-AA.
The Lady Eagles and Eagles return to action on Thursday, December 21st as they
host Senatobia, MS in the 2nd Annual Summertown Christmas Classic. The Lady
Eagles tip-off at 7:00 PM, while the Eagles hit the court at 8:30 PM.
