Summertown Hands Zion Two Losses

COLUMBIA – The Summertown Lady Eagles and Eagles invaded Zion Christian Tuesday
night, handing a pair of losses to the hosts.
The Lady Eagles took a 10-3 lead by the end of the first period, then outscored the
hosts 31-7 in the second period to hold a 41-10 lead at the half. The onslaught
would continue in the second half, as the Lady Eagles would lead 62-14 at the end of
the third and take the win by a final score of 76-30.
The Lady Eagles were led by Kayla Clark with 17 points (1 trey), Tamia Tucker with
12 (2 treys), Jennifer Peterson with 10, Allison Durham, Addeana Adams and Haley
Lovett with 6 each (2 treys each), Brandi Newton with 5 (1 trey), Erica Peterson,
Alexa Perry and Sara Dickey with 4 each and Paige Smith with 2. Zion was led by
Amanda Walton with 11 points, Brittany Jergans with 7, Ashley Adams with 6, followed
by Madelyn Cass and Morgan Smith with 3 each.
The boys’ game would be more of the same as the Eagles would jump out to a 21-6 lead
by the end of the first period and lead 43-23 by the half. In the second period,
Summertown would hold a 20-11 scoring advantage in the third period to lead 63-34
going into the final period and took the win by a final score of 75-39.
The Eagles sank a total of 11 3-pointers in the contest and were led by Chris
Carrington with 19 points (2 treys), Nick Nance (3 treys) and Wes Long (2 treys)
with 15 each, Dustin Scott with 10 (2 treys), Clint Gobble with 5 (1 trey), Brandon
Keeton with 4, Logan Harville with 3 (1 trey), followed by Jon Ivie and Frank
Campbell with 2 each. Zion was led by Nathan Cass with 19 points, Michael Moore
with 13, Daniel Pugh with 5 (1 trey) and John Moore with 2.
Summertown returns to action on Friday, January 19th as they travel to Mt. Pleasant.
Game time is 6:00 PM.
