Summertown Takes Two From Loretto

The Summertown Lady Eagles and Eagles invaded Mustang country Monday
night, and for the fourth consecutive time, the Summertown squads swept victories
from their inter-county foes Loretto Lady Mustangs and Mustangs.

In the opener, the Lady Mustangs would take a 15-8 lead by the end of the firs
period, but the Lady Eagles would respond with a 16-8 second period to take a
slim 24-23 lead at the intermission. The Lady Eagles would have an 18-17
scoring advantage in the third period (42-40) and outscored the hosts 14-9 in
the final period to take the win by a final score of 56-49.

The Lady Eagles were led by Jennifer Peterson with 29 points (1 trey), Kayla
Clark with 13 (4 treys), Haley Lovett with 10 (1 trey), Paige Smith with 3 (1
trey) and Allison Durham with 1. The Lady Mustangs were led by Sara Brewer
with 22 points, Kinsley Williams with 12, Mandy Cross with 10 (2 treys),
Heather Dunkin with 3 and Wendy Bivens with 2.

In the boys’ game, the Eagles would take a 19-15 lead by the end of the first
period and outscored the Mustangs 17-15 in the second period to lead 36-30 at
the half. The Mustangs would respond with a 13-10 third period, cutting the
Eagles lead to 46-43 by the end of the third period. In the final period, the
Mustangs would cut the lead as close as 62-59 with just over a minute to play,
but the Eagles would get timely free throws by Nick Nance, Jon Ivie and Chris
Carrington to seal the victory by a final score of 68-59.

The Eagles were led by Nick Nance with 25 points (4 treys), Wes Long with 15 (5
treys), Chris Carrington with 8, Jon Ivie with 7, Clint Gobbell and Logan
Harville with 5 each, Dustin Scott with 2 and Brandon Keeton with 1. The
Mustangs were led by Zack McDonald with 29 points (9 treys), Clint Wright with
14, Brady Kimbrell with 6 (2 treys), Lucas Nunley with 5 (1 trey), Lance Dooley
with 3 (1 trey) and Colin Stout with 2.

The Lady Eagles and Eagles return to action on Tuesday, as they face Hampshire. Game time is 6:00 PM and it is the final game of the regular
season.
