Mr. William Bruce Johnston, age 89, passed away Sunday. He was an original member of the 101st Screaming Eagles Airborne Division, a graduate of the Radio and Communication School at the University of Georgia; He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard, owner and operator of Johnston?s Radio and TV Service and retired from Murray, Inc. He was an active member of the Lawrence County Historical Society and the Old Cemetery Society, served on the Tax Equalization Board and was a member of the Crewstown Church of Christ. He is survived by one son, Howard Johnston, two daughters, Sandy Calvert and Gloria Thomas, all of Lawrenceburg. Three brothers; Ivan Johnston, and Robert Gentry Johnston of Lawrenceburg and Charles Edward Johnston of Jacksonville, Florida. One sister; Pansy Marie McLain of Lawrenceburg. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two at Pettus Turnbo Chapel with Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Bumpas Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from four until eight at Pettus Turnbo Funeral Home, who are in charge of all arrangements.
