Mr. Ivan Walter Johnston, age 80, of Lawrenceburg passed away on Sunday. He was a native of Lawrence County, a retired business owner and Mayor of Lawrenceburg for 25 years from 1967 until 1992 and was named as Tennessee?s Mayor of the Year by the Tennessee Municipal League in 1975. He was a member of the College Place Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Crews Johnston, one son, Richard Ivan Johnston, both of Lawrenceburg, three daughters, Jeanette McGee of Lawrenceburg, Lisa Kinslow of Collierville and Amy Ellenbury of Lakeland, Tennessee. Two brothers, Robert G.. Johnston of Lawrenceburg and Charles E. Johnston of Jacksonville, Florida. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Ivan Johnston will be Tuesday at two at Pettus Turnbo Funeral home with Collin Stringer officiating. Visitation with the family will be from four until nine today at Pettus Turnbo Funeral Home.
