LINCOLN DAVIS APPOINTED TO PRESIDE OVER HOUSE FLOOR

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 30, 2007) – U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis was appointed by
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to preside over the floor of the U.S. House of
Representatives on three occasions from April 24-26.

“I was privileged to be asked to preside over the floor of the House of
Representatives,” Davis said. “I accepted the gavel with honor as a
representative of the families of the Fourth District.”

The Speaker is the presiding officer of the House of Representatives. As
Speaker, she has the privilege to designate another member of the majority
party to act as Speaker pro tempore to perform the duties of the Chair for
up to three legislative days. The responsibility of the Chair is to preside
over daily House proceedings.
