Coffee County Drops LCHS Twice To Win District Crown

TULLAHOMA ? Coffee County?s Red Raiders knocked off the top-seed twice Tuesday to complete their climb through the losers bracket defeating Lawrence County 13-4 and 4-2 to claim the district baseball title.

Lawrence County had a 5-1 lead after five innings of the opener, but the Raiders scored 10 times to take momentum the rest of the day.

Zack Miller picked up the win in relief facing just six batters. Scott Beasley was the loser.

Holden Killen had a homer and a single driving in two runs for the Wildcats. Orry Blackwood had two singles.

David Morgan hurled the second game win for Coffee allowing seven hits, three walks and fanning one.

Brady Hutton took the loss walking four and giving up five hits. Hutton fanned seven.

Blackwood and Kurt Watson had two hits each for Lawrence County. George had two hits for Coffee, who will host a Region 4-AAA semifinal game Monday.

The Wildcats, who made five errors, will now have to play a region semifinal game on the road, probably at nationally-ranked Murfreesboro Oakland.
