The County Commission approved a resolution Tuesday evening to explore creating
parking in the area where the fountain is now. Twenty seven additional parking
spaces could be created from the area. TLM Associates will design and do cost
estimates for the project.
Commissioners also approved a resolution to help local farmers get some relief
from the drought. The recent drought has cost area farmers much of their hay
harvest, and opening up USDA lands that are designated for the additional
harvesting is one step closer to being cut.
Other items approved were the declaration of Dr. Henry C. Lee Day on June 5, 2007,
a contribution of $20,000 to Summertown High School’s welding program, a
contribution to the West Point Utility District, acceptance of a TDOT grant for
litter and trash collection, budget amendments, manidtory direct deposits for all
county employees, and estimates for the First Volunteer Bank building to be
remodeled for the Court House Annex.
