| Executive Signs Contract on Bank Property Purchase Posted on May 24, 2007 Representatives of Lawrence County Government have signed a contract for purchase of the First Volunteer Bank property, which is intended for use as an administrative center for county offices. On Thursday, Lawrence County Executive Paul Rosson and First Volunteer Bank President Ron Evans signed documents to finalize the contract for purchase of the bank facility at 200 West Gaines in Lawrenceburg. The two were joined by county officials and staff members whose offices will utilize the facility. In February, the Lawrence County Commission voted to acquire the property at a purchase price of $1.7 million. Funding will be provided by existing bond proceeds. An appraisal of the facility completed recently showed the property valued at $2.5 million. Benefits of the facility include its proximity to the courthouse, high visibility location, solid structure and drive-thru access. Renovation work to the facility has been approved by the Lawrence County Commission. The Facilities Committee of the commission is currently working on specific details and final construction design. Once finalized, the facility will house administrative offices of Lawrence County Government, including Assessor of Property, County Clerk, County Executive, Register of Deeds, and Trustee. Space in the Courthouse could then be reallocated for use by offices linked to the court system. ?This acquisition is a very positive investment for the future of Lawrence County,? Rosson said. ?This building will provide easier access to our citizens and better service. This project is something that we can definitely be proud of.? |
