A gym packed with students, faculty, and community members recently witnessed the formal adoption by Hughes Parker Industries of Summertown Elementary School. The moving ceremony was concluded by Judge Jim Hamilton.
Principal Debbie Hughes expressed thanks and emphasized the importance of partnerships between schools and businesses, as this encourages educators to stay in tune with the changing needs of employers.
Hughes Parker General Manager Mike Stigall comments, ?Well-educated, responsible students can grow up to be successful employees, parents, and community leaders. We are pleased to be a partner in this progress.?
?The Adopt-A-School Program allows business leaders to support our schools in their efforts to grow and improve,? says Program Coordinators Beth Keaton of the Lawrenceburg County Chamber of Commerce. ?We appreciate Hughes Parker and all our businesses who so willingly give of their time and resources to help our schools.?
Hughes Parker is owned by JMAC Inc. of Worthington, Ohio, with two plants in Lawrenceburg and one in Manchester, Tennessee. The company specializes in precision, metal stamping, and related services. Hughes Parker?s sales are spread across the heavy truck, lawn and garden, recreational equipment, and automotive markets. The company employs about 175 people.
