Giles-Lawrence Investigators Arrest Giles Couple

The Giles County Sheriffs Department and Lawrence County Sheriffs Department spent the night investigating a home suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to Sheriff Kyle Helton, Narcotics Investigator Michael Thomason went to the home of John and Jessica Ratliff at 1811 Choates Creek Road to perform a ?knock and talk?. Thomason ?knocked? on the door and asked to come in and ?talk? to the pair.

While inside the home, Thomason observed ingredients in different parts of the house used in the manufacture of meth. He then obtained a search warrant to further search the residence.

Thirty year old Jessica Ratliff and 33 year old John Ratliff were each charged with initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Each one also faces three counts of child abuse and neglect.

Both were taken to the Giles County Jail and placed under a bond of $33,500 each.

The arrest took place at 10pm last night. The Department of Childrens Services was called to aid in the care of three small children, ages 4,5 and 9 that were taken from the home.

Cleaunp of the scene is complete according to Sheriff Helton. Crews left the scene at 9am this morning
