The Lawrence County Democratic Party released the following statement
regarding the candidacy for president of Fred Thompson:

While we respect where Fred Thompson came from and what he has achieved in
his life, we strongly oppose his candidacy for the Presidency of the United
States. While may be true that Fred is a very tall man and has appeared in
several Hollywood movies, his record in the United States Senate was
lackluster at best, only having sponsored four bills that became law in the
eight years he served. And thus far in the 2008 presidential race, Fred has
yet to lay out a detailed vision about how he would handle the deteriorating
situation in Iraq, fix America’s health care system, grow the economy and
create higher paying jobs, address climate change and make our nation
safer. All he has offered is platitudes and generalities when it comes to
these and the other pressing issues of the day. So as of right now, it
really is hard to say whether his candidacy will amount to anything more
than a bunch of hype and empty rhetoric.

America is looking for a change in 2008, not a continuation of the failed
policies of the Bush administration. The Democratic Party and our
candidates are offering that change. We hope that you will join us as we
work to repair our country and make America great again.
