Water Woes Top Special Session Agenda

Water woes were the feature of the Special Session of the County Commission meeting
on Tuesday afternoon. With several areas of the county having difficulty with
keeping their wells running, the agenda held a resolution that would extend the
city water lines to include the one and a half miles that is currently is not
covered by either end of the waterlines currently intact, coming from Highway 43 and
from Buffalo Road. The project, which will cost $18,000 will funded by the county,
and extended by Lawrenceburg Utility System. The project should be completed within
the next couple of months.
With only two other major issues on the special agenda, one letting bids for the
renovation of the courthouse annex, and one aimed towards changing County Commission
to meeting monthly. The resolution to approve the letting of bids for the process,
and including the removal of interior fixtures, passed, after an amendment that
would have excluded the removal process failed. The bidding process should begin
within the next few weeks.
The resolution to change meetings to monthly, that was sponsored by chairman Jerry
Dryden, failed. His explanation for the resolution was to eliminate some of the
special sessions frequently occur. The resolution did not pass, however, so meetings
will remain bi-monthly.
