Summertown Placed On Mandatory Water Restrictions
Posted on October 29, 2007

The Summertown Utility District has just placed its customers on mandatory water restrictions. Due to the drought, only three of the five wells Summertown Utility uses are working and they have been forced to purchase water from Lawrenceburg to continue to be able to provide adequate quality water for essential use. Summertown customers may experience some water problems today as they ?valve? into the Lawrenceburg system. The mandatory restrictions mean no watering of lawns, flowers, vegetable gardens, trees or shrubs, no washing of cars, trucks or boats, no washing of sidewalks, driveways, parking areas or any other hard surfaces except for sanitary or safety reasons. No use of water for dust control or construction compaction, no use of water for fire fighting training, water served for drinking purposes at restaurants is restricted to be served only as requested by the customer. There will be no waterline extensions or meter installments until further notice. Customers are also asked to check, repair and maintain all water pipes for leaks on their property. Failure to comply with the water restrictions will result in warnings or termination of services with reconnection fees applied. The Summertown Golf Course has it?s own irrigation system and is not affected by these measures.
