TBI Looking Into Case Involving Sheriff Taylor
Posted on January 17, 2008
Lawrence County Sheriff Kenny Taylor is the subject of an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation after allegedly trying to get D.U.I. charges dismissed against a relative.
TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm said the investigation is “open and ongoing” and when it is finished a report will be given to District Attorney General Mike Bottoms.
District Attorney Mike Bottoms said he requested the investigation to find out the facts in the case, that apparently came from the City of Lawrenceburg police arrest on December 19th of Taylor’s nephew Jarrod A. Bradbary.
Police reports obtained today said Bradbary was found sleeping in the drivers seat of his pickup truck at the Pulaski Street stop light.
Officers said they found two rifles and an open bottle of Crown Royal Whiskey in the truck. Despite several attempts, the reports said, they were unable to awaken Bradbary. A wrecker was called in to get the truck door open. This took about 40 minutes.
Once the door was open the man was assisted out of the truck and handcuffed. Lawrenceburg police asked Bradbary to consent to a blood alcohol test and he said he would. Later, while at Crockett Hospital Bradbary was advised, according to the report, by Sheriff Taylor not to consent to the blood test.
Bradbary was released to Sheirff Taylor who signed a statement releasing the Lawrenceburg police department from any liability for anything that might happen due to his release.
The Lawrenceburg police department still plans to present the D.U.I. Case against Bradbury to the grand jury.
TBI agent Wes Wesson said he could not comment on the case at this time. District Attorney Mike Bottoms also declined further comment on the investigation at this time.
