Gas Rates Up 4%, Power Rates To Go Up In Spring

You’ll pay a bit more on your natural gas bill in Lawrence County this month. Lawreceburg Utility System officials report that gas rates are up 4% this month as compared to a month ago. But, on the good side, rates are over ten percent lower than a year ago.
While gas rates are better, the rate you pay for electric power is going to go up in the spring. TVA announced Friday that a scheduled base rate increase that will take effect in April and could be as high as nine percent.
In response to a rash of copper thefts the Utility system will begin using aluminum wires instead of copper wires on utility poles. Thieves have been stealing the cooper wires off of poles in several community in the southern part of the county.
