LCHS Senior Honored For Volunteerism

A Lawrence County High School Senior has been named a ?Distinguished Finalist? in a statewide award for volunteerism.
Courtney Shelton, who is 18, of Lawrenceburg, a senior at Lawrence County High School, initiated a campaign called ?Christmas Wishes? to collect donations of toys, books, blankets, clothes and other comfort items for children who have to be removed from homes with methamphetamine labs. She also visited area schools to educate students about the dangers of methamphetamine.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honors young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. The awards program, now in its 13th year, is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals
