Lawrenceburg Man Charged With Attempted Murder While Evading Drug Arrest, Police Say

A Lawrenceburg man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of drug after police say he tried to back over a detective in his jeep while police were trying to arrest him on the Mt. Arart Road.
According to Lawrenceburg Police Chief Terry Shay, 34 year old Joseph Chad Vinson of 385 Chief Creek Road was ordered to stop by officers after they received word he was delivering a ?gram and a half? of narcotics.
Officers said they identified themselves as police and ordered the suspect to stop. Officers said Vinson threw his Jeep into reverse and quote, ?backed over? one detective in his attempt to evade arrest.
Police then fired a one shot striking Vinson’s vehicle.
After a short chase Vinson stopped near the Mt. Arart Road-W.O. Smith Road intersection and he was taken into custody.
The injured officer was treated and released at Crockett Hospital. He was not identified in the police news release.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, police said Vinson has been charged with possession of meth for resale, possession of Xanax, Reckless Driving and evading arrest.
