Your electric bill will go up between four and seven dollars a month this spring.
The board of TVA, which supplies electricity to 159 power distributors including the Lawrenceburg Utility System, raised it rates 7 percent on Friday..
“It is something that could not be avoided, given the (agency’s) strategic plan,” said TVA Chief Financial Officer Kim Greene. “Our system has added less generation for over a decade than was necessary to actually keep up with the load growth.”
Mixed with a quarterly fuel adjustment charge TVA will announce next week, the total impact on consumers could reach double digits, TVA President and CEO Tom Kilgore said after the TVA board approved the new rates on Friday.
The rate increase takes effect April 1 and will show up on bills a month later.
