Have you ever wanted to donate something to posterity for folks to ponder one hundred years into the future? Well, the upcoming LCHS Centennial Celebration offers the people of our community the opportunity to do just that. An LCHS Time Capsule, graciously donated by Neal Funeral Home, will be painted purple and gold, filled with LCHS memorabilia, and buried in a special ceremony at the LCHS Memorial on Sunday evening, July 6th, as part of the school’s Centennial Kick-Off Celebration. Those whose items are chosen to be placed in the time capsule will participate in this momentous ceremony.

“We are very pleased to announce that the Lawrence County High School Time Capsule Ceremony will be a big part of the festivities of Lawrence County High School’s Centennial Celebration. The LCHS Time Capsule will be filled with the chosen items by the winning contributors at the annual event on the LCHS football field on Friday evening, July 4th, before the fireworks display. The ceremony will continue on Sunday evening, July 6th, 6:00pm, at the LCHS Memorial which will be the permanent home of the LCHS Time Capsule,? explained Anne Morrow, event coordinator.

“We deeply appreciate Neal Funeral Home for sponsoring this important part of our school’s Centennial Celebration. In selecting the items to be placed in the LCHS Time Capsule, we hope to reveal to future generations the history, achievements, loyalty, fond memories, and enormous pride we have for our beloved alma mater, Lawrence County High School.”
