Posted on March 02, 2008

- Former Rep. Van Hilleary has lost his
post on the Republican National Committee.
The Tennessee Republican Executive Committee on Saturday elected
Memphis attorney John Ryder to replace Hilleary as a national
committeeman.
Hilleary served in Congress from 1995 to 2003 representing Lawrence County. The 48-year-old
unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination in the 2006 Senate
race and lost the 2002 gubernatorial race to Democrat Phil
Bredesen.
The state GOP has three representatives on the national
committee. The others are state Republican Party Chairwoman Robin
Smith and former state Rep. Stephanie Chivers.
