County Commmissioner Brands Charges Against Sheriff As
Posted on March 30, 2008

Commissioner Chris D. Jackson, a member of the ethics committee, issued the following statement regarding Sheriff Kenny Taylor:
“Kenny Taylor and his wife are friends of mine. I know Kenny to be an honorable man who has served both our country and our county honorably for many years. What is taking place now is nothing more than the politics of personal destruction, which is sad. Kenny has done a great job during his tenure as Sheriff in working with the commission to remedy the jail problem, fighting crime and overall making our county a safer place for Lawrence Countians to live. I am hopeful that he will get the chance to continue to serve as our Sheriff. I support Kenny and his family during this trying time and offer them my prayers.”
Jackson is on the County Commission Ethics Committee and is Vice Chairman of the Lawrence County Democrat Party.
The Sheriff has been charged with “official misconduct” for allegedly interferring with the DUI arrest of his nephew in December. His attorneys say he will enter a plea of “not guilty”. He is scheduled to appear in court April 7th.
