Electric Bills Go Up This Month

Get ready for higher utility bills…somewhere between six and twelve dollars a month. New higher rates for electricity went into effect yesterday. The rate hikes were approved by the TVA board earlier in the year, passed along to the local utility board from TVA, who passed the rate increase along to customers. There are actually two TVA rate increases. A TVA quarterly fuel-cost adjustment and a seven percent increase in wholesale electric rates are now in effect. The seven percent rate increase will help fund new power generation and energy efficient initiatives.
