Lawrenceburg Police Department Recover Stolen Four Wheelers

On Monday April 20th, Detectives with the Lawrenceburg Police Department recovered five four wheelers which has been reported stolen to law enforcement.

The four wheelers were recovered in Lawrence County, Tennessee and Lauderdale County, Alabama.

Two of the four wheelers were stolen from Lawrence County, two were stolen from Wayne County and one was stolen from Lauderdale County, Alabama. An additional four wheeler stolen from Wayne County was recovered a few days prior, bringing the total to six thus far.

The four wheelers were stolen over the past year and authorities have charged Richard B. Cheek (AKA Ritchie) (33) of Iron City, with three counts of theft and two counts of burglary in connection with the four wheelers recovered in Lawrence County.

Richard Cheek has been released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Friday.

Charges in Wayne County and Lauderdale County are pending as well. Investigation into the matter continues and authorities urge anyone with information regarding the thefts to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lawrenceburg Police Department at 931-762-6837.

Also, anyone who has purchased a four wheeler from Richard Cheek is encouraged to contact police as it may be stolen property.

Police are only interested in recovering the stolen property and not necessarily in prosecuting those in possession.

Police urge owners of any all terrain vehicles to record the VIN numbers and any other characteristics of the machine as this greatly assists in recovering them if they become stolen.
